It’s nice to meet you, I’m glad you found me!

My goal with Bueno Pilates was to create a welcoming space where anyone can feel at home in their body and in movement. I strive to meet my clients where they are on any given day and help them build tools that increase overall enjoyment of life. Welcome to Bueno Pilates — a place where you can be good to your body.

I have been a movement instructor for nearly 25 years. I started coaching gymnastics while enrolled in a teaching program at WSU, though I ultimately switched to a degree in Human Development. Over the years, my coaching focus shifted to Junior Olympic competitive gymnasts — highly trained athletes whose conditioning encompasses plyometrics, stability, strength, and flexibility. More than a decade of coaching trained my eye for minute alignment corrections, how to build skill progressions without risking injury, and how to spot safely for advanced skills and inversions.

Between competing in gymnastics myself and transitioning to hands-on coaching, my body eventually couldn't keep up with the sport's demands. I was constantly in pain and knew I needed to make a change. Thinking a shift to an office job would feel restorative, I quickly discovered that sitting all day was doing more damage to my body than gymnastics and dance ever had.

Enter Pilates.

When I started, I had no background in the history of Pilates or the movement principles it's built on. Even so, once I began practicing regularly, I could immediately feel the benefits. Eager to step away from the computer and return to instructing, I began my teaching certification in March of 2020 — and everything I thought I knew about movement shifted. A deeper understanding of anatomy and alignment helped me see my body, my injuries, and my chronic pain in an entirely new way. By recognizing compensation patterns, I was able to focus on building strength where I actually needed it and balance my musculature in a way that supported my joints rather than overloading certain muscles.

Pilates showed up for me when I needed it most, and it has changed both how I move and how I think about movement as I age. It is the foundation that keeps me active in the things I love — ballet, skiing, and golf — throughout the year.

My ultimate goal is to share this knowledge so that you, too, have tools that keep you moving for as long as possible: to better manage everyday aches and pains, to develop movement patterns that carry across any sport or activity, and to support the vigorous, joyful life you're after.

I look forward to meeting you and exploring how Pilates can improve your posture, strength, and quality of movement.
